Subject: CoronaVirus - Why do we need to know about your vaccination history?

CONTROL GROUP YOUR HEALTH | YOUR DATA | YOUR CHOICE

Dear CoronaVirus,

The majority of us have been vaccinated at some point in our lives –
either for COVID, travel, or some other disease. What we have been
vaccinated with, though, many of us will struggle to answer. Perhaps
it was a long time ago. Perhaps because vaccine schedules have changed
so much over the years. Perhaps you were not told what you were
receiving!

WHY DO WE NEED TO KNOW YOUR VACCINES?

The COVID vaccine – whether you received one or not — is the only
vaccine relevant to this study, right?

Wrong!

Whilst COVID is our topic of interest, it is important for us to
understand the ways in which past vaccinations may (or may not!) be
influencing our health outcomes, particularly in relation to the COVID
vaccines. For example: Are those who refused the COVID vaccine but
perhaps have taken a flu vaccine in the last few years, experiencing
heart disorders in the same numbers as those who took one or more
COVID vaccines?

There are four distinct groups of participants, for whom outcomes
could possibly vary*, depending of their vaccination history: * Had
vaccinations for any disease, and had any number of COVID vaccinations
* Had vaccinations for any disease, but did not have any COVID
vaccinations * Never been vaccinated for any disease, and did not
have any COVID vaccinations * Never been vaccinated for any disease,
but did have any number of COVID vaccinations

We could split the groups further, but for the purposes of looking for
initial trends, this is what we need.

_*Please note that we are not stating that all vaccinations affect
health outcomes, but merely asking if there is any difference in
health outcomes between these different groups._

WHAT SHOULD I ENTER IN THE VACCINATIONS SECTION?

Ideally, we would love everyone to enter each vaccine they have had,
but we realise that for many people this is neither possible, or
desirable, so the minimum we need to know, for our data to be an
accurate representation, is if you have EVER had any vaccination of
any type.

We list all vaccine variants in our list, including all
childhood-schedule individual (such as ‘Rotavirus’ or ‘Tetanus’) and
combination vaccinations (such as MMR). We also provides two handy
groupings; Childhood vaccinations and Military vaccines (unspecified),
which you can enter as a ‘catch-all’ to tell us you have been
vaccinated, but cannot recall the details.

All other vaccines, such as Seasonal Flu, travel vaccines (such as
Yellow Fever), country specific vaccines (such as Chikungunya), and
new vaccines (such as RSV), are listed individually.

HOW TO LET US KNOW YOU HAVE HAD VACCINATIONS:

Login to your account

and go to Review my Data, select Vaccinations and then press the green
ADD button.

Start typing your vaccination – for example, ‘Varicella…’ or ‘Child’
if you wish to add ‘Childhood vaccinations’ in the dropdown list,
select the correct item in the list and then complete the form,
answering all questions as best you can, using ‘unknown’ if you don’t
know the answer.

If you do not know when you had the vaccine, please enter a rough
estimate – simply choose the first of January in the year you were
five, for example, to cover having had any number of childhood
vaccines.

Other vaccines, like ones for travel can be listed separately, but
again, if the date is in the distant past, a rough estimate is
adequate.

WHAT IF I HAVE NEVER BEEN VACCINATED FOR ANY DISEASE?

Those people who have never been vaccinated for any disease form an
important control group to compare to everyone else and it is vital
that you update your account each month by confirming your
Vaccinations, Health Conditions, and Medication and Supplements
entries are up-to-date or unchanged.

This confirms to us us that if you continue to have no entries in
Vaccinations — this means that you are completely unvaccinated.

Everyone who completes the simple monthly update process

will be included in our top-level list of ‘most trusted data’ for
reporting. If you do not complete your monthly update, we cannot be
sure that your data is accurate and therefore, it will be treated as
less reliable in our reporting.
