Subject: in regards to the previous email
Good day,
Did you receive an email from Jong-Kwan, on the job offer
(representative position) with Korea Zinc Company, Ltd.?
Tom Johnson, MBA
Yes – is this a scam??
a guy with a gmail address asked if I had received email from Korea Zinc.
I thought this is strain but I replied – then I got an email from Jong-Kwan was received with offer to work with them.
I did a search on the name – I knew there was something wrong.
I am not replying again – sadly they have my name. mobile number and email now
Any further update on this. I have received a similar email and i am not finding anything on the internet of them being a scam other than this thread. Not sure of proceeding with them as they have asked for a zoom meeting as well.
Having looked at the headers of the above Email, it appears to be a mass mailing from a genuine Email account that was probably hacked.
It is unusual, but it bears the hallmarks of a potential scam, especially as the sender sent it to one of our honeypot Emails – an Email account never used apart from being placed where a nefarious bot scraped it.
That said, we do not know your status or can we see your Email for analysis. We can only make a judgement on the Email above. Scammers steal identities – We don’t know anything about you personally – you might be associated with Korean Zinc! Only only advice to you personally is to seek further advice, preferably from someone local to your area.
Thank you, this is helpful. Probably a polished scam.
