    1. In theory, you can trace the senders, but as they operate across international borders, the time and effort involved far outweighs the seriousness of the crime – all they have done at this stage is send a load of unsolicited electronic messages. Public Email systems like Gmail, Yahoo, AOL etc allow the user to create their own name – in theory they could prevent names that try to imitate genine companies (a favourite trick of scammers) but the amount of companies they would need to protect and the infinite number of variations the scammers could try make it way too complex. Plus, they would be blocking people with a legitimate use for having one of the names.
