It’s a shame. Our church received this email and I even forwarded the photos to somebody who was interested. But fortunately, that person was wise enough to realize that that’s a SPAM!!!

We have recently discovered that this was part of a scam…

It came to our attention via our local hairdresser – upon receiving an email from Debbie, that at the initial presumption, he believed was one of his clients – someone was offering a free piano to the right household or a deserving person. We were only too delighted that our kind and thoughtful hairdresser would think of us or rather our son, who has special needs but an incredible ear and talent for music (he’s also having piano lessons).
We contacted Debbie via email, and she explained about the sad loss of her late husband, giving us the specialist removal companies details and only asked one thing… That she be kept in the loop of all contact but of course, we are taking all responsibility for the delivery/ costs etc. Getting that piano into our home.

The transportation company is apparently called metrobrickslogisticfreight.com – what a convincing website but we were curious as to why the Belfast office only had a mobile number for such a huge worldwide specialist company. Turns out that the mobile number beginning prefix is generally related to scam attempts and simply using google maps/ earth, as well as street view and searching the 3 offices, in Belfast (port docks), Canada and the USA – we could not find and company on these sites trading with the same name or a similar name… This started to make us feel that further checks were needed. Then a simple search on Google using Debbie Magoffin’s name, demonstrated that this person had been using the same scam for quite a while and unfortunately, been very successful at the fulfilment task.

Now we feel so deflated having to explain to our son, that this was a complete con artist and scam, and we will not be getting a piano for a while yet.

      Kind Regards,
